Manager's Note
Dear Customer
Two of our Applications Engineers visited Houston in September for COADE’s very first All Product User Conference. They attended lectures and classroom sessions hosted by COADE staff and guest presenters on basic and advanced techniques within their range of CAD and CAE software. Both reported that the Conference was very interesting and informative. See more below.
I will be accompanying Richard Ay from COADE and our German Sales Manager James Wright during a week long visit in November to see some of our customers in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich. Amongst other things we will discuss links with CAD, new capabilities and future development in addition to learning how our customers use the software.
Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the tremendous pricing available for PRG’s productivity tools FEA software. Please see below.
Best wishes

COADE User Conference
This was attended by users from all over the world who saw state of the art software for the piping, vessels and associated industries and had the opportunity to learn via lecture and classroom sessions. A team from COADE whetted the appetite of the assembled users in an opening address which included a ‘productivity’ presentation. One attendee wrote in his feedback:
The keynote speech delivered by Tom van Laan was impressive, the main focus being productivity, and how COADE products can deliver. To prove this point rather than simply talk it, Tom, along with John Brinlee and Chris Schiller produced a project in 20 minutes.
CADWorx Plant, with the link to CADWorx P&ID, was used to create a pipeline which was then transferred to CAESAR II. The pipe was analysed and the expansion loop wizard was used to create a loop – the space envelope was created by viewing the whole CADWorx model in CAESAR II. The pipe was then imported back into CADWorx. A Stress isometric and fabrication isometrics were generated using ISOGEN. A CADWorx equipment vessel was exported from CADWorx equipment into PV Elite and analysed. Changes were made to the vessel and the vessel was imported into PV Fabricator to create a fabrication drawing. The vessel was also re-imported into the model to complete the project.
Simple yet awesome.
Training
CAESAR II Dynamics
Only one scheduled training course remains in 2009.
Our CAESAR II Dynamics course runs from 2nd to 4th December and places are available. This course typically deals with Earthquake Analysis, Waterhammer, Harmonic Loads, Relief Valve Loads and Slug Flow.
Dynamics Analysis of Piping Systems is becoming more and more common with many clients insisting on stringent code based design in order to prevent failures in the field.
To reserve your place, please contact Steve Gillott or book online here.

ASME VIII Div2
We are considering running a specific training course on ASME VIII Div 2 in conjunction with COADE and would like your views.
Is there sufficient demand for such a course in the UK?
Would you attend a course at Fern on this subject?
Please contact Steve Gillott with your views. |

Did You Know?
CAESAR II
Repeated Notes, Warnings or Error Messages can be controlled via a pull down option adjacent to the 'Start Run' error check button.
AutoCAD 3D DWG files can be imported into the CAESAR II model in order to enable visualisation of other piping systems and plant items.
AFT Fathom
The XTS (eXtended Time Simulation) module of AFT Fathom facilitates the modelling of system dynamic behaviour (slow transients). For example, the XTS module allows the user to define the geometry of a tank which is used to determine liquid level changes with time.
AFT Steam Calc
AFT SteamCalc 2.0 provides easy access to accurate steam and water properties through a standalone application and through an add-in to Microsoft Excel.
AFT Updates
There have been some new build updates for AFT Fathom, Arrow and Impulse this month. See the links from the AFT web site are below.
AFT Fathom
Latest Version Date: 2009.10.07
Information Update (29.2 MB)
AFT Arrow
Latest Version Date: 2009.10.07

PRG FEA Software
Reduce time scales, eliminate errors and save money on everyday design issues. Anyone involved with piping and vessel design/analysis should be considering PRG's low cost 'lease only' FEA productivity tools.
FE107 uses finite element technology to provide stress analysis of nozzle connections on piping and pressure vessels. It replaces WRC107 as a calculation tool when WRC107 semi-empirical methods are limited. FE107 can be applied to a wide range of geometries. FE107 uses finite element analysis for nozzle and branch connections in piping and pressure vessels.
FESIF automatically calculates stress intensification factors (SIFs)and flexibility factors for a wide variety of piping intersections not covered by the B31 piping codes. Delivers Inspector-Ready Reports and Simple Input.
FEBend analyses bends and elbows with a round pipe or structural steel attachment. FEBend produces SIFs and Flexibilities for use in any pipe stress program. FEBend allows local pad reinforcement on structural or circular attachments.
Any one of the above programs can be leased for a whole year for LESS THAN £60 PER MONTH. We offer 40% discount on a 5 seat licence bundle making it LESS THAN £2,000 per year or £165 PER MONTH. Please contact Steve Gillott for a quotation and more information, or visit our web site.
CAESAR II
A complete update for CAESAR II Version 5.20 is available.
The build is called C2_520_090904 and should be downloaded and applied to all CAESAR II Version 5.20 installations.
Note that this build cannot be applied to any version of CAESAR II other than 5.20.
