The holiday season is passing quickly and here at Fern we are focussing on customer’s requirements in the hectic September to December period.

We have a lot happening, including our 2011 product release presentations that will be held at Intergraph offices around our region.  Full details will be issued soon starting with an event at Intergraph’s UK head office in Swindon which will include a keynote address from Kevin Holmes, Intergraph’s regional Vice President.

The new releases of all products will deliver gains for everyone through new features and code updates/additions. Remember to make sure your Maintenance is up to date so that you receive the new releases automatically.  Provisional release dates are:

Updates

PV Elite Build

An August build (PV100813.exe) for PV Elite 2010 can be found here.  This is a patch file for PV Elite Version 2010. This file will update your installation of Version 2010 to the August build.

CAESAR II Build

A July 2010 build (C2520_100715.exe) has just been posted to the Intergraph web site.  Download it here.   This is a complete update for CAESAR II Version 5.20.  This file is a self-extracting ZIP archive.  Once the files are extracted, please review the “ReadMe.txt” file for installation instructions.

PRG Software Training– Final Reminder

Some places still remain on this new course focusing on Advanced Piping Design (days 1 & 2) and Practical Application of FEA (days 3 & 4).   Delegates may attend the first two, the last two, or all 4 days.

Hints & Tips

CAESAR II

Has the ability to export models to Isogen in order to create 'stress isometric drawings'.

Output can be filtered on nodes, loads, stresses, displacements etc in order to minimise data and enable a focus on pertinent results.

CAESAR II can perform a flange analysis in accordance with 2 different methods at the 'system' analysis stage.

PV Elite

The 'System' folder now resides within Documents and Settings.

Details such as Nozzles and Platforms may be copied from one model to another using the List dialogue.

Elements of a pressure vessel may have both internal and external pressure.

NozzlePRO

Has API 579 Fitness for Service capability
Includes the capability to add piping to vessel nozzles.

NozzlePRO now analyses nozzles to ASME VIII Div 2 pre or post 2007 rules via a simple switch.

As-Built Analysis

An interesting point: a large percentage of the consultancy we undertake is on "as-built" systems and it surprises us that built systems are often very different to the intended design.

These differences can result in design conditions being exceeded which can cause failures which can be catastrophic. 

Make sure that the "as built" system reflects the intended design, if not then we recommend re-analysis.
