Manager's Note
Dear Customer
You should have already received the News Release from Intergraph Inc. of Huntsville USA, advising that COADE Inc is now a part of their organisation.
For many years Intergraph has been one of the leading suppliers of high-end CAD products in the Plant and Process environments as well as in Mechanical, Construction, GIS and all other sectors of the Engineering & Design markets.
COADE, the world’s leading provider of Plant and Process Analysis software with their CAESAR II Pipe Stress and PV Elite Pressure Vessel software, also provides the CADWorx Plant Design solution.
COADE’s CADWorx range has been the top selling Plant Design solution for entry and mid range level users. There is now a future opportunity for an upgrade path to Intergraph’s SmartPlant and PDS, products that have traditionally targeted high end multi engineering usage. Intergraph and COADE have worked together for some time in COADE’s use of Intergraph’s ISOGEN and its use is likely to be further enhanced.
As COADE’s Global Network Partner for Western Europe, Fern welcomes the change and looks forward to a future that enhances the position of customers and products.
Finally a short update on Fern’s performance in 2009. As published last month, despite the recession, you, our customers, helped us grow a little and we thank you for it. We added regional reseller teams in Spain, Portugal and Italy, and added products and staff to operations. In all, a successful year enhanced by the recent confirmation from COADE that Fern sold more COADE product than anyone else worldwide.
Thank you, and we wish you all a successful and prosperous 2010.
Best wishes
Ian Borrington

CADWorx fieldPipe for CloudWorx
CADWorx fieldPipe with the CloudWorx interface, allows the creation of intelligent 3D models directly from a Point Cloud.
Use CloudWorx to open and view the point cloud and the clip out points to show the desired pipe run. The fieldPipe window within the CloudWorx interface can now determine the pipe diameter when a point on the point cloud is picked. fieldPipe will interpret to determine the True diameter of the point picked, then pick the closest Nominal size.
Piping can be created simply by picking a point cloud point at each end of the pipe. Insulation can also be accounted for to achieve accurate results. |

Hints & Tips
WELDTOTAL is a function to extract all weld gaps for an accurate count for estimating purposes. The total number of welds, the thickness and the total amount of linear weld required for each pipe size are shown.
Execute by typing WELDTOTAL at the command line, which is followed by the option of entire drawing or individual.
Entire drawing: This will produce a count of every weld gap on the entire drawing. There will not be any additional prompts.
Individual weld gaps: This option allows individual selection of weld gaps by using the AutoCAD selection methods. If a line was isolated using the line isolate command, a count of all the weld gaps per line can be created.
Steel Import/Export
CADWorx Plant 2010 has the ability to both Export and Import Steel models to CIS/2 format files.
When running the Steel Export command (SEXPORT) the user can choose to export either CIS/2 ASCII (*.stp) files or CIS/2 XML format (*.xml) files.
CIS/2 files can be read by many steel analysis software programs. For more details on the CIS/2 file format and to see which programs will support CIS/2 follow this link.
CADWorx imports the CIS/2 file format, in both ASCII and XML formats, using the SIMPORTcommand.
Copy Equipment Objects
In CADWorx Equipment or PV Fabricator, if there are multiple items of a particular item of equipment which are identical or even just similar, remember to use the right click option to Copy and Paste components within the Components Tree.
