Manager's Note
Dear Customer
More data from the COADE User Conference; I was unable to attend this year, but this is what one attendee wrote:
The keynote speech delivered by Tom van Laan was impressive. The main focus being productivity, and how COADE products can deliver.
To prove this point rather than simply talk it, Tom, along with John Brinlee and Chris Schiller produced a project in 20 minutes.
CADWorx Plant, with the link to CADWorx P&ID, was used to create a pipeline which was then transferred to CAESAR II. The pipe was analysed and the expansion loop wizard was used to create a loop – the space envelope was created by viewing the whole CADWorx model in CAESAR II. The pipe was then imported back into CADWorx.
A Stress isometric and fabrication isometrics were generated using ISOGEN. A CADWorx equipment vessel was exported from CADWorx equipment into PV Elite and analysed. Changes were made to the vessel and the vessel was imported into PV Fabricator to create a fabrication drawing. The vessel was also re-imported into the model to complete the project.
Simple yet Awesome
Best wishes

Automatic pipe supports placement
COADE have announced a collaboration with ASD Global which will enable product-level integration between CAESAR II and ASD’s Pipe Support Optimizer (PSO).
The development will enable the automatic placement of pipe supports into the CAESAR II model. The software automatically locates and selects logical pipe supports for a piping design, the output achieved greatly benefits both designers and engineers by allowing support information to be automatically passed to the stress analyst.
The bi-directional integration between CAESAR II and CADWorx Plant enables designers to quickly optimise support locations, whilst maintaining both engineering and design integrity.
This development further augments COADE’s commitment to product integration between analysis and design.

Hints & Tips
I-Configure
When using I-Configure with ISOGEN in CADWorx to configure the ISOGEN output, note that the Style configured using I-Configure must be exported for use with CADWorx before running ISOGENOUT or ISOGENBATCH.
I-Configure employs an XML file to store all the configuration variables, and this XML file must be written to the relevant files for ISOGEN to use (*.FLS, *.MLD, *.OPL etc).
If the style has note been exported the following message will display
In I-Configure, go to the menu File>Export and the style will be available for use with CADWorx
CADWorx Pipe Support Modeller
Did you know pipe supports can be redefined on the fly with the new Pipe Support modeller just by modifying the relevant *.SUP text file?
To do this, select the support from the Pipe Support Modeller Palette and click modify. The collection of *.SUP files defined for the selected support will be shown.
The selected components will be displayed, as will all available components for the selected type. You can modify the SUP text files, or select an alternative SUP file for any component. Once the assembly is modified and saved, return to the Pipe Support Modeller Palette and regenerate the support using the regenerate button.
HVAC Database
CADWorx HVAC components can now be exported to the external database using command HDBFGEN. This exports all HVAC information, including the description and Part number information, which can be edited in the database environment. The drawing and database can be synchronised using command HSYNC, any changes made in the database will now be reflected in the drawing.
As coordinate information is stored in the database, the HVAC can be imported into a new drawing using command HDBFIN. The HVAC drawing can be recreated using the database information.
DVD Training
COADE has released an updated video training course on DVD that contains the complete five-day, in-class training course plus bonus material on using, customising and mastering CADWorx Plant Professional.

Webinars
CADWorx 2010 Pipe Support Module
Mark your calendars for this webinar on 5th November at 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM GMT.
CADWorx Plant Professional 2010 now includes a support assembly modeller to develop pipe supports that are closer to the real world objects. Mark Bross, one of the COADE User Conference instructors, will demonstrate how easy it is to build and use pipe supports with the new pipe support modeller. To register, visit the webinar registration page.
Hygienic Piping Design
COADE held this webinar on the 22nd of October. If you were not able to attend but would still like to see it, you can download it here. |
