Welcome to June’s Newsletter

The news everywhere is about cutting spending, being more efficient in delivering service, being effective in what we do; so I just thought I would reiterate that CADWorx, our world leading P&P CAD solution and now part of the Intergraph product range, can help your company achieve the savings and productivity necessary in times like these.  Yes, I have said it before, but it is true and we have lots of case studies to support it - see below.  If you haven’t already got CADWorx, then it costs nothing to look.  In fact, if you want to try before you buy then we can arrange that too. 

Two weeks ago Intergraph visited Fern to review our service levels, our team and how we did things.  They were impressed with our capabilities, knowledge and support ethos of doing everything we reasonably can to keep you, our customers, fully satisfied with our service.  We look forward to being part of the growth surrounding Intergraph’s family of products.

CADWorx 2011 Alpha Testing

CADWorx 2011 Alpha Testing is now in progress. 

The new features in progress include a Continuity Check Palette to track down any discontinuity in all pipelines in a model.  Also, the HVAC module will include Data files to build up the components quickly and easily.
Further features and improvements will be in the Stairs and Handrails. 

All this plus the NG (New Generation) technology in the piping module of CADWorx. CADWorx 2011 is shaping up to be the best release of CADWorx yet.

CADWorx Data Tracker Version 1.1

CADWorx Data Tracker version 1.1 is now available.  This update includes support for German Language and support for Microsoft Excel 2007 format files (*.xlsx).  The Full list of new features available in Version 1.1

• Multiple Language Support (English & German Language Files included, others can be entered into the table)
• Data Tracker cannot be closed whilst a project is open – the close window button is disabled.  (File > Exit will first log the user off and close the project before shutting down Data Tracker)
• The install directory is added to the registry (this is used for finding the language and configuration files)
• New Project Wizard allows selection of any config file for the template cfg file
• Support For Excel 2007 file format – can output and input xlsx file format
• Default Excel file format can be set. When outputting/importing reports Data Tracker automatically selects the default file type as per this setting.
• Report Templates improved to allow usage of Excel 2007 Templates (*.xltx) and Macro Enabled Templates (*.xltm) when generating reports. The Report Wizard allows Selection of these additional file types

Hints & Tips

Pipe Support Modeller – Detect Steel

When placing Pipe Supports using the pipe support modeller, pipes can be fixed on to CADWorx steel items automatically using the Detect Steel check box. 
After selecting the pipe plus the location on the pipe for the support, the support itself will automatically be orientated and sized correctly to attach to the CADWorx Steel item.  Additionally, Pipe Supports with a beam clamp component will have the beam clamp size selected automatically to fit the corresponding steel member size.

ISOGEN Continuation information -  ISOGENBATCH

To export pipeline continuation information I ISOGEN, particularly for pipelines which connect to other line numbers, use ISOGEN Batch.  ISOGEN Batch will export more continuation data than ISOGEN Out. 
Additionally to display the pipeline name on the continuation message, set Option Switch 38 in the options file.

PV Fabricator Hidden Lines

The visibility of any hidden line can be set for individual lines on the 2D Drawing.  Select any hidden line and use CTRL + Right Click the options to Show or Hide any hidden line or centre line are available.  The line colours and line types are governed by the settings in the PV Fabricator Configuration file.

Jumping from Pipe to Pipe or Junction to Junction
Fathom, Arrow, Mercury, Impulse

You can jump from junction to junction or from pipe to pipe by pressing F5 while in a specifications window.

Intergraph 2010 Rescheduled

Due to unprecedented rains causing severe flooding in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, site of Intergraph 2010 originally scheduled for June 14-17, has closed indefinitely due to the flood damage.  Intergraph 2010 has now been rescheduled and relocated to the ARIA Resort at CityCenter in Las Vegas on Aug 30 – Sep 2 2010.  For further details visit http://www.intergraph2010.com/
