Dear Client

Spring is upon us, it is getting warmer and the flowers are showing their heads.

I have just ended a three day meeting with Intergraph Senior VPs and can say that the Intergraph acquisition of COADE is showing how good the future can be.  All users on all platforms will benefit from enhanced features as Intergraph’s technologies are integrated into both the CAD and CAE products.  In reverse, integration with the SmartPlant suite will bring upgrade options for CADWorx, along with enhanced performance with embedded CAE for Intergraph’s existing base.  New Intergraph branding is on the way for the complete product range, so expect this in the next few months.  Meanwhile, Intergraph recognise that CADWorx, CAESAR II and PV-Elite all hold top positions in their markets and future development monies will be increased (above what was already a high percentage) to further enhance their performance.

In late April the Global Network Partners are meeting with Intergraph’s Senior Strategic Presidents and Vice Presidents to coordinate planning for future business and product development. 

The future is bright.  There has never been a better time to buy CADWorx, CAESAR II, PV-Elite or other Intergraph products.

CADWorx fieldPipe
(with Leica CloudWorx Interface)

CADWorx fieldPipe with Leica CloudWorx Interface allows the creation of intelligent 3D models directly from a Point Cloud.  Use CADWorx fieldPipe to generate a model from a point cloud, including inserting inline components, by simply selecting the type of item to insert with the connectors (Flange types etc).

Specify the location by picking the back face of the flange

The final step is to pick any point along the pipe to specify the direction of insertion, the items are then placed and the pipe is trimmed to fit.

Fern CADWorx Data Tracker

Fern CADWorx Data Tracker is a utility developed to assist CADWorx users to edit and manipulate CADWorx project MS Access database information with ease. 

Additional tools are provided for generating and importing reports in an Excel format.  A report wizard allows users to select the fields required and filter the data.  This data can be output to a report in an Excel format.  Any reports created in this way can also be re-imported into the project, incorporating any changes made in the Excel file.

Revision control checks and compares different revisions to determine changes, new components and deleted components between the two revisions.  These results are output to an Excel file with a summary and formatted for easy viewing.

A Project log tracks which users are accessing the project and performing which tasks, and the time/date that each task occurs.  In addition to this, user access rights can be set up on a per project basis to only allow users to access the data they need.

New Projects can be created using a Wizard.  For P&ID projects, the database tables and fields can be created.  For Plant projects a project structure can be created  and this structure is also displayed in the main Data Tracker Window when opening a Project.  Project specifications can also be selected from the CADWorx spec directory and these will be placed in the project directory.

Hints & Tips

To update the weight of HVAC components automatically, run the command HWGTUPDATE, select the required components and enter the correct density. 
The Component Edit dialog will then be updated with the correct Weight, which can be output on BOMs and in reports.

When CADWorx Equipment is being run inside CADWorx Plant Professional, sometimes the CADWorx Equipment menu is not displayed unless the command LOADMENUEQUIP is run.

If a nozzle on a nozzle is required in CADWorx Equipment, highlight the nozzle in the Components list and click the nozzle component button.  CADWorx will automatically draw the nozzle on the original nozzle.

 

CADWorx University 2010

The CADWorx University 2010 is a plant design and engineering creation conference and will be held September 27-29 in Houston, Texas.

This conference includes over 45 high quality COADE and user led training sessions, allowing attendees to increase their productivity by increasing their skill levels. 

During the conference, attendees will also get the chance to spend time with the CADWorx integration and development teams, allowing them to provide input into future product development.
