CADWorx Equipment 2010 operating system compatibility is based on AutoCAD or Autodesk vertical product used:

CADWorx 2009 is NOT compatible with:

• AutoCAD LT
• Autodesk Inventor
• Autodesk Revit

** Note on Autodesk vertical products:  CADWorx commands and features are primarily tested with the AutoCAD version that is shipped independently of any Autodesk vertical product.  The AutoCAD that is shipped with an Autodesk vertical product is primarily tested to make certain that CADWorx loads within this vertical product.  Because the AutoCAD that is shipped with an Autodesk vertical product is often customized with regards to that vertical product, CADWorx features and commands may not function the same as they do in plain AutoCAD.

To install CADWorx do the following:

• Exit out of CADWorx/AutoCAD and all programs.
• Double click on the file you downloaded from the Web site or the file named "SETUP.EXE" from CD-ROM.
• This will start the install process.
• Follow instructions on the screen.

Note:  CADWorx Equipment 2009/2010 uses a new data format.  Drawings saved with CADWorx Equipment 2009/2010 data format will not be work with CADWorx Equipment 2008 or any earlier version of CADWorx Equipment.

• Added a user shape feature to allow for any type of component to be added to CADWorx Equipment.  User shapes are controlled by data files located in the ..\CADWorxEquipment\UserShape directory.  The user shape data file will list the names of the drawings to be used for the shape along with different properties to be displayed in the CADWorx Equipment grid.  User shapes can be added to CADWorx Equipment components similar to the nozzle component.

• Added reinforcement pad feature to nozzle.  This option can be accessed from the Nozzle details dialog.

• Added the option of attaching a nozzle onto another nozzle.

• Added commands NSCHSETUP, NSCHSINGLE, and NSCHTOTAL for the creation of nozzle schedules.

• Added the CADWorx Plant point and shoot UCS features to CADWorx Equipment:  The commands in CADWorx Equipment are:  EQUIPVIEWFLAT, EQUIPVIEWNORTH, EQUIPVIEWSOUTH, EQUIPVIEWEAST, EQUIPVIEWWEST, EQUIPUCSNEXT, EQUIP3P, EQUIPVIEWCLIP, EQUIPZOOMLOCK

• Updated the nozzle on horizontal cones to allow nozzle attachment flushed to the cone surface.

• Updated the torispherical drawing routine. The center for the knuckle radius was modified to be based on the head inside diameter.

• Updated reference line features to work with the user shape components.

• Updated the placement of bar stiffening ring on eccentric cone.

• Updated pump box component to allow negative insert location coordinates.

• Updated the pump nozzle feature to allow placement along the impeller centerline.

• Updated the double click feature to expand the correct component in the Equipment Palette when a nozzle on nozzle component is clicked.

• Updated ring type joint weld neck (RTJWN) nozzle graphics to have a tapered hub.

• Added leg member selection to include pipe nominal/actual sizes.

• Updated distance calculations when Reference Line mode is selected.

• Updated platform component to allow same "start from" and "end from" values.

• Updated nozzles on box placement allowing negative "distance" values.

• Updated PVElite bi-directional to include all ANSI pipe sizes for leg component.

• Updated the torispherical drawing routine. The center for the knuckle radius was modified to be based on the head inside diameter.

• Updated the nozzle placement on horizontal cone to allow nozzle attachment to be flush with the cone surface.

• Updated the nozzle placement on elliptical head to allow for connections closer to the edge of the head.

• Synchronized the start angle and leg member rotation angle with PVElite bi-directional.

AutoCAD introduced the concept of Profiles to consolidate many command line switches that were present in the previous version. Now only one command line switch, /P, is required to specify all the settings for AutoCAD.  The information about the profile is saved inside the Windows Registry which is a part of the Windows operating System. Registry also stores numerous other information required to run AutoCAD. In fact, the Windows registry stores information for all programs that are available on the machine. For this reason, it is not recommended that the user modify the registry directly. Always use the AutoCAD Options command to modify the registry entries in AutoCAD.

The CADWorx install program creates the CADWORX profile. This profile has all the information necessary to run CADWorx. In the CADWorx support directory, there is a file called ACAD.RX (C:\CADWorx\SUPPORT\ACAD.RX) which is used to load the CADWorx ARX module (CADWorx.ARX). The ACAD.RX file has a line in it with the text CADWorx.arx. AutoCAD reads the ACAD.RX file and loads all files specified in the ACAD.RX file. However, AutoCAD only reads one ACAD.RX file per AutoCAD session. The ACAD.RX file which gets read in is determined by which directory is first in "AutoCAD Support File Search Path". The CADWorx support directory (C:\CADWorx\SUPPORT) is always first in the CADWORX profile.  Thus when the CADWORX profile is used, AutoCAD reads the C:\CADWorx\SUPPORT\ACAD.RX file to determine which programs to load.  When the main CADWorx ARX module is loaded, it loads the CADWorx pull down menu inside AutoCAD.

• CADWorx documentation is also available while running the program. The CADWorx pull down has a "Help" option that will bring up the Windows based help file (EQUIPMENT_ALT.CHM). Help is also available by pressing the "F1" key while running any CADWorx command or pressing the "Help" button in any  CADWorx dialog.
